Tunisia’s press freedom plummets in 2025 index
Tunisia has dropped 11 places in the 2025 RSF World Press Freedom Index, ranking 129th out of 180 countries, as the crackdown on journalism intensifies. Three journalists are currently behind bars, serving prison sentences of 8 months to 2 years for their political commentary. Despite mounting repression, some journalists continue to resist the pressure.
