Myanmar junta chief elected vice-president, edging closer to becoming president

Min Aung Hlaing, Myanmar's junta chief and leader of the 2021 coup, was elected a vice-president by the lower house on Tuesday. The country's parliament also elected another vice-president from a military-aligned party and a third will be chosen by the military. A parliamentary vote to select which of the three will be elevated to president is expected later this week.
